About Me

I’ve been in Quality, working with data for about 15 years. I think the thing I like most about it is the problem-solving process - looking at something, identifying what does or doesn’t work, and finding ways to improve it. I started out in the quality department of a SaaS company in about 2006, and I haven’t been able to pull myself away since.

I’ve lived in Utah in my whole life, mostly in the Salt Lake Valley though I did spend a few years in Southern Utah while I worked as the Manager for a contract manufacturer.

The day before I was scheduled to present our yearly GMP training, a coworker said, “This sounds like a fancy occasion. Are you gonna dress up for it?” So I did.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and her wonderful horses, or possible watching a movie with our cats. I enjoy reading - I’ve read most of Terry Pratchett’s works and am currently enjoying Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series and Gregory McDonald’s Fletch series, though I read a lot of different genres.

I also like to draw on occasion which has proven handy when I need artwork and designs for trainings. Other hobbies I’ve picked up include playing the banjo. I currently own three different banjos, but I can quit buying them whenever I want.

Long John: Official Office Manager

If we wind up working together in a remote/hybrid position, you’re likely to see my (un)official office manager, Long John. Long John is a 3-legged cat named after the notorious Treasure Island antagonist, Long John Silver. While certainly nowhere near as problematic, Long John does like to be where the people are. He’ll frequently be visible in any video chats, either on the couch behind me, or occasionally asleep in my lap.
